Birds of Chopta

Updated: Jan 12, 2023

In the month of December, I have been to Chopta and Mandal (Uttarakhand) for Birding.

While this is not my first visit to these places, but this visit has something unique - I have moved to the Nikon Mirrorless system completely with Nikon z6 II and Nikkor Z 400mm/4.5 Lens. Overall, I'm happy with the quality of output from Nikkor Z 400mm/4.5 Lens. It is very lightweight gear, making it a comfortable gear for hand-held photography.

The Winters in Uttarakhand are known for short days - Late sunrise and Early sunset. Himalayan Birds are both colourful and often found inside the bushes. Due to low light conditions shooting at lower ISO is not an option. Most of the photographs present in this blog have ISO 4000 & above, even going to ISO 51000.

During the Post Processing stage, I used DxO's DeepPRIME XD Software to remove noise as a first step. The DeepPrime software removes noise in the RAW image itself, making it the most efficient Denoising software as on date in the market. Further processing is done in Lightroom and Photoshop combination.

Here is the small collection of photographs:
